Jump! Crowned, and Frostbite are the three most recent releases by Julia Dweck. She’s been very busy since she began her own publishing company, Sleepy Sheep Productions! My children have been enjoying reading these books together on the Kindle in the mornings before starting the day, and they would like to share them with you.

JUMP!
Jack is a Jack-in-the-box whose spring breaks one day and he flies out of the box. He thought he’d be thrown into the trash, so he tried to find his box again, which leads him into an adventure with Barker, the family dog.
Jack and Barker spring through the neighbourhood, having fun skipping before having a little bungie jumping fun. Before each new experience, Jack is afraid and Barker tell him to relax and enjoy.
When Barker reveals that he’s hid Jack’s box and gives it back to Jack, Jack no longer wants to be boxed in. He wants to go on more adventures with his new friend.
Jump!’s illustrations by Brian Allen are full of movement and determination.
At the end of the story you’ll find some fun extras that will have you learning and your brain jumping.
Take a ‘leap’ of faith, and don’t be afraid to try new things is the story behind the story. It’s fitting that this is the first book Julia has released with her new publishing venture, Sleepy Sheep Productions.
Where will your next jump land you?

Frostbite
Just in time for Winter, Julia Dweck puts a new twist on an old classic. Frostbite is an adventurous story about a boy and his snowdog who comes to life. Together they play ‘freeze’, and take on the neighbourhood bullies in a snowball fight.
When the times comes to go in for the night the boy can’t find a place to keep frostbite cool. Though frightened at first, his mom soon warms to Frostbite and she provides a cooler for Frostbite so he can stay near his owner through the night.
Julia Dweck’s Rhyme keeps the story romping, and the outdoor illustrations bring the chill of the season to your skin.
At the end of the book you’ll find some strange but true dog facts and a fun mix & match activity.
A true story of friendship between a boy and his ‘dog’, my children children have gone barking mad reading it over again!
Crowned
Crowned is a lovely book for young children. Julia Dweck’s rhythm and rhyme lead you through the story of young Quinn who dreams of becoming the next queen in Fairyland. She made herself look the part, and then, after reading every fairy tale she could, she wondered if she must find herself a king to rescue her, just like the stories she’d read.
Quinn sets out to find herself a king to rescue her. She tries all of the tricks, searching for poisoned apples and kissing frogs among other things. She happens upon an ogre, and while they were fighting over her fate, she released them rather than harm them when the opportunity presented itself.
Quinn realised that she didn’t need anyone to save her; she could take care of herself. The fairies were so impressed by her actions that they asked her to be the new fairy queen.
Yes, dreams and wishes do come true,
But only if you want them to.
So think of yours and you will start
To find the magic in your heart.
This is a beautiful story that encourages young girls to be strong and believe in themselves. Set your goals high and take actions to achieve them. You don’t need to depend on anyone else for your success in life. In fact, this is a good reminder for ladies of all ages, not just young ones.
