It’s that time again…. Back To School Degustabox delivery time! This month the kids and I were out at a storytime session in a castle but Phil was home to accept our August delivery. But it was nice that he was able to participate in the excitement and anticipation of seeing the box and having to wait to discover what was within. Of course, he joked with me that he’d already opened it; but we knew better.

After we arrived back home after a fun afternoon of stories and crafts in historical surroundings (even after 13 years in the UK, I still am awed by the history), it was time for dinner, and we were tired, so we did the unthinkable…we waited until the next day to open our box. The anticipation mounted.
If you have someone close to you heading off to university, a Degustabox subscription would be like a care package every month. A fun reminder you’re thinking of them; without you having to go to the shops and trek to the Post Office!
Finally, it was time and I had a little helper….

Back To School Degustabox Favourites:
Each month we feature our top picks in the month’s box. Of course, these choices are based on our own tastes, so I’d love to hear what your favourites are, just pop them down in the comments at the end of this post.
I’m going to admit there were a couple of surprises for my taste palette in this box! I really am not a fan of white chocolate, but the Bahlsen PICK UP! Black ‘N White that is a white chocolate slab sandwiched between two chocolate biscuits. I was hesitant to even try this, but my mind was changed once I did! This combination really does work! Phil was disappointed that I liked these so much as he was hoping they’d all be his….not this time!
Cadbury Dairy Milk Big Taste Toffee Whole Nut candy bar was awesome! It combines three of my favourite things; caramel, milk chocolate, and hazelnuts. Crunchy, melty, and smooth all at the same time. This is a chocolate bar to sit down and savour. I’ll be looking for this at our neighbourhood shop.
Cadbury Curlywurly Squirlies are also great for those who love milk chocolate and chewy caramel. Phil saw the Curlywurly bag and reached for it…I saw the caramel Squirlies and beat him to it!
The kids had their favourites, too:
Kallista’s top pick this month are Light Bites Popped Chips. Not a potato in sight; they’re made from chick peas and soya and and packed with a flavour-filled punch.
Tristan’s top choice were the Refreshers Softies; sweet, fizzy, and squishy they were a treat for him. He had a couple put aside for another day…but I must assume time moves faster for him because they were gone very shortly after!
Other products:
I’ve purchased Seabrook Crisps before. I love a good rippled chip/crisp and find it difficult to find them at a decent price. This was a bag of six snack-size bags; 2 each of salt, salt and vinegar, and cheese and onion. To me, nothing beats plain old salt, particularly in a ripple crisp. Salt and vinegar is great on days when you need a little zing in your afternoon. Cheese and Onion isn’t my top choice, but Phil has me covered there!
My second surprise this box were the Orangina Limited Edition Summer Bottles. I’ve never been keen on fizzy orange drinks, but there was a recipe included in this box for Gin Gina. Now, I’d purchased some gin earlier this year and discovered it wasn’t as I’d remembered it the last time I’d tried it 11 years ago. So what possessed me to try this combination, I don’t know. But again, the combination was much better than expected.
Maggi Fusian Noodles: Ramen noodles are everywhere in Japan, and nothing can beat a good ramen meal. However, over here it’s a bit different so rather than just sit and eat a package of noodles, we put together a last-minute super simple stir fry for lunch that fed the whole family with just one packet! It used up some odds and ends in the freezer and didn’t take long to throw together. Check back in a couple of days when I share the recipe.
Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise was a timely inclusion as we’ve just run out and Tristan like to use it now and then for his salads when the rest of us have Caesar dressing. It also makes an appearance in our tangy tuna toasties!
I’m a girl who loves her spice, there’s no denying that! So I was happy to see Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce in our box; I added some to our super simple stir fry for a little extra kick. It’s lovely in potato soup, carrot soup….just about any soup, really.
Every month there are different surprises to discover inside Degustabox. This month is definitely is snacker’s delight.
