The Mom’s Library Ultimate Guide to Summer Fun is going strong with 200+ link-ups already, and there’s still half a month to go! Please keep coming back frequently to add your own summer fun ideas, or to see the ideas linked up by others. There’ll be no boredom for anyone with all of these terrific ideas for summer fun. For my round-up this week I’ve chosen backyard critter crafts.
Backyard Critters!
Welcome To Mom’s Library! This resource for Moms is packed full of parenting tips, activities for children, crafts, recipes and more!
Every Star is Different has an insect unit that incorporates math, language, science and other subjects all in one unit study. I wonder if learning about bugs in this manner would help my daughter from her huge bug phobia?
Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails has a great round-up of bug-themed activities for kids from around the blogosphere. There’s something for everyone included in this post.
Moms Make Lists shares their experiences on raising butterflies and also has a linky of other bug-related posts for you to explore.
Dear Creatives has a video to show us how to make our own butterfly restaurant and hotel. Wouldn’t it be lovely to see more butterflies around the garden?
How cute are these little bug buddies that Lalymom made from babyfood pouch lids! These will keep the kids busy for hours over the summer.
Rubber Boots and Elf Shoes shares several variations on putting a couple of ingredients together into butterfly-shaped snacks. Perfect for hungry kids after all of their backyard critter learning and crafting.

I appreciate the parents who aren’t squeemish and teach kids about bugs. Unfortunately I AM VERY squeemish, but I am still trying to teach-though more via library books, etc., and observing from afar! And snacks are just plain FUN ๐
