Our BBQ Degustabox has arrived! Back home in Canada barbecues are a part of life; even in the winter. The first thing Phil and I purchased when we were married was a barbecue, and we’ve been grilling ever since. This month our subscription box includes lots of items that you can enjoy outdoors (and indoors if it’s raining like today).
This month our box arrived while Phil was home on holidays so he had the pleasure of signing for it and being here for the big unveiling. Now he knows firsthand how high the excitement level is for the kids when they see a Degustabox at the door! This post contains affiliate links.
This month the BBQ Box includes 14 items that will take you right through the day:
- Granola for breakfast
- Yoghurt chips and a snack bar for your morning snack
- Cooking sauces for lunch with an energy drink to keep you going through the day
- O’s Nibbles for an afternoon snack
- Cooking sauces for dinner and shortbread for dessert
- HARIBO and cider for an evening treat
Of course, I wouldn’t recommend you consume the entire box in one day! That would just be silly! It may look like we have…but I have my family of taste-testers to help me; Phil and I share the adult drinks and we all just open a package and have a nibble to try things out, and then enjoy the contents of our box over the course of the rest of the month.
This month’s alcoholic box is valued at £23.93, but if you used the code X2OEC you’ll get your first box for only £5.99 (regular price is £12.99) and this includes free delivery!
BBQ Degustabox Favourites:
Each month we feature our top picks in the box. Of course, these choices are based on our own tastes, so I’d love to hear what your favourites are, just pop them down in the comments at the end of this post.

I liked the Schwartz Authentic American Flavour BBQ Pulled Chicken spice mix. Phil used it on some chicken breast slices and served it either in or on potato skins (everyone has their own way of doing these) with salsa, sour cream, and chives. He turned the insides of the potatoes into potato cakes, and added some bright and juicy corn on the cob. Yum! I do have a sweet tooth, and HARIBO Tangfastics are one of my favourites, so the summer flavours of ice cream and sorbet mixed things up a bit. The whole family liked both versions of the HARIBO in this box.
The Spoon Apple + Peanut Granola is great when added into our fruit and nut trail mix, sprinkled on yoghurt, or just as it is. The sweetness of the apple, maple syrup and honey make it feel indulgent, while the peanut flavour isn’t overwhelming-which for me is key.
The kids had their favourites, too:
My children enjoyed snacking on the Light Bites Superfood Fruit Bar while out for an afternoon at the Giant’s Ring. I’d popped this in my backpack the day before and forgot about it; but it came in handy when we were out for the day.
Tristan and Kallista had fun spending about an hour decorating the Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread Scottie Dogs! Their decorative skills have certainly improved since their first try years ago. This would be a great activity for a party or when it’s too hot outside and you want to keep the kids in the shade of the house for a little while.
My kids are all about crunchy snack, and they love crackers for just that reason. The Original O’s Savoury Cumin and Sesame Nibbles are a nice size, and the unusual combination of flavours does indeed work. Covered in sesame seeds, with a subtle undertone of cumin, these are great as they are, or with little cubes of cheese on the side. Maybe use a little of that leftover salsa as a dip, too!

Other Items:
Eisberg Sauvignon Blanc Alcohol Free Wine is sparkling, light and fruity. I could easily enjoy a glass of this while working in the evening – and still keep a clear head. And with just 28 kcal per 125ml serving, I don’t have to worry as much as with my regular sparkling wine.
Westons Cider has the coolest names; Rosie’s Pig Flat Tire (a cloudy sparkling rhubarb cider) and Rosie’s Pig Handbrake (a cloudy sparkling cider with damson). I love how they got their names, as well as the logos. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a huge fan of these flavours; however, that will just be my own taste. Phil did like the rhubarb cider and says it would go well with a summer rhubarb pie (ahem…he was supposed to make a pie last month…. 😉
Again, Phil enjoyed the ENRJ – Energy Juice: Apple & Berries more than myself. It is reminiscent of a baby puree with a kick of caffeine. However, I’m thinking that perhaps this could be used in some baking to give a little extra energy uplift in muffins or a loaf.
So that’s what’s in the BBQ Box this month! I know my family is looking forward to trying out the other two cooking sauces, and we’ll be taking the Berrywhite Organic Drink with us on our next day out. Until next month…have fun with this box!
