Summer is in sight, and it’s time to get the barbecue out (if you haven’t already been enjoying it in the fine weather we’ve had the past 2 months), and just on cue, it’s time to review the BBQ& Snacking Degustabox. Read our review of the full box, and which are our top picks this month.

Please note that as reviewers, we often receive most or all of these variations so we can try them all out and share our thoughts with you (I will note this where applicable below). We received this Degustabox in exchange for our honest review.

BBQ & Snacking Top Picks
Each month we feature our top picks in the box. Of course, these choices are based on our own tastes, and I’d love to hear what your favourites are, just pop them down in the comments at the end of this post.

YES! Snak Bars have been in previous boxes, and this time it was the Dark Chocolate, Banana, & Pecan Fruit and Nut Bar we received. There’s a box of 3 that can be kept nicely in the cupboard for when you say YES! to your cravings. The dark chocolate is bitter but offset with the sweetness of the banana and the nuttiness of the… nuts. This was the first item I tried out from this month’s box because I knew I would like it.

Barbecues are a big part of life in Canada, and it’s something I’ve added to our life over here in the UK. Of course, you need to have a good sauce for a memorable barbecue, and we do love Bull’s-Eye Original BBQ Sauce. I’ve purchased it before and was happy to see it in this month’s box. Just a little goes a long way as the sweet and smokey flavour transforms an otherwise ordinary burger into something unforgettable.

Every weekend Phil and I have a little date night at home and have a glass of wine. I usually have white and Phil red, but I did try the Beronia Rioja Crianza and it’s very good. Nice and smooth and not too strong and not at all tart, as some wines can be. If migraines weren’t triggered by red wine, I’d happily buy this.
The Kids’ Top Picks

There’s nothing like a refreshing salad for lunch in the summer and Hellmann’s Salad Dressings top it off nicely. For those that like a heavier dressing, Classic House will be for you, while if you prefer a lighter drizzle, then give the fat free vinaigrette a whirl.

Wraps used in many various forms are a staple at our house, so the kids were happy to see Mission Street Tacos in this box. Use them soft to envelope your meal, or crisp them up in the oven if you prefer a crunchier taco – or cover it with cheese and herbs under the grill and dip in salsa or sour cream for a fun snack. Original are as you’d expect while the chili and lime aren’t too spicy, but have a pleasing little zing to them, which we all love.

Hartley’s Juicy Jelly Pouches made a recurring appearance this month. We received a box of strawberry, as well as an extra pouch of lemon-lime to try out. I preferred the lemon lime as it was nice and refreshing, and two of my favourite flavours in one. My children, though both preferred strawberry. To me, it’s a little strange to have jelly squeezed out of a pouch rather than to eat it with a spoon, but it’s a novelty for kids.

The Lindt Lindor Milk Bar was extremely sweet, which I think takes away from the melty smoothness of it, but it is still very good. It’s almost like a truffle with a meltier inside and a milk chocolate outside. It would make a nice treat for a special occasion.

Our Barebells Protein Bar was Hazelnut & Nougat flavour, which is a good combination; I can rarely pass by hazelnuts and chocolate. It’s smooth and chewy on the inside, then draped in chocolate and little bits of nougat sprinkled over the top. I liked the little nougat pieces as I’m not a fan of large bits, so that worked well for me. Unfortunately, these bars would be out of my usual price range, but I am always happy to try out things I otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to in our monthly box.

XITE Energy drinks aren’t at the top of this month’s list. I’ve no doubt many people would like these, but ginseng and I aren’t the best of friends and Phil’s first comment was on the overpowering taste of the sweetener that really detracts from the strawberry and watermelon flavour of the drink itself.
