We all like to recycle when we can, and this is another children’s craft that does just that. This cardboard cone vase is also very beautiful, which makes it winning craft to me!
What did we use to make the cardboard cone vase?
We used some
- cardboard cones
- scraps of ribbon (ones I cut off new shirts because they always find their way out of the collar and look goofy)
- sequins
- gems
- glittered foam stickers
- paint and paintbrush
- silk flower
How did the children make their cardboard cone vase?
The children painted up their cardboard cones with the colors of their choice. We were making these as a Mother’s Day gifts so the winning colors chosen by the children were pink and purple.
Once the paint has dried, we returned to the ‘vases’, brought out the glue. The children had fun adding strips of ribbon, glittered foam stickers, sequins and gemstones around the cones to make them nice and pretty. They were very deliberate in their placement of their embellishments.
After the vases were completed, the children chose a flower to place in their vase.

Phil’s mom received a vase for Mother’s Day, and I have one sitting here beside the desk looking pretty.
I think the children may make some more of these vases to use for pretend play for table decorations for a restaurant, or for setting up a flower shop.
