We’ve been sharing our Degustaboxes with you, and so far our first had always been my favourite…but this month’s delivery was so full of delectable treats that the February box is my favourite! It’s arrival was anticipated, and with the last week I’ve had, it was a much-welcomed treat!
I’ve already written about our freezer breaking down and last Monday as I was sitting in the kitchen researching a replacement freezer, as well as a vacuum, our clothes washer started to fill the kitchen with smoke! Tuesday Tristan broke out in spots that on Wednesday were confirmed to be chicken pox…so by the time Thursday rolled around and our February Degustabox was delivered, I was ready for a break!
You never know what you’ll find inside the cardboard box wrapped with care. We immediately opened the box and I took a few photos right away as the kids and I started to open packets and sample items before they even made it to the kitchen.
It’s now Saturday night. I’m worn out, tired, not feeling like I’ve accomplished anything. I don’t even want to think about tomorrow or the next two weeks of illness; appliance deliveries, food prep and cleaning that need to be done.
But that will be another day. Tonight is date night. I get to have a night off to relax with my husband; chill, have dinner made for me, watch a movie and just relax and enjoy. That’s not to say that I (Degustabox) haven’t contributed with a beautiful bottle of wine and some sweets.
Date Night Favourites:
By far my number one top pick this month is the Blossom Hill Elderflower wine. It’s aroma is like Northern Ireland’s countryside in June! Full of the delicate elderflowers bunched on the trees, blown down with the slightest breeze. Elderflower has been one of my favourite flavours since I was first introduced to 13 years ago. Pairing a glass of this wine with some homemade elderflower lemon curd would be heavenly. Tonight, it’s being paired with sweets for my sweet. Phil is enjoying the Bebeto Cheese cake Gummies and I’m hoarding the Candy Crush Gummy Mix.
The kids had their favourites, too:
I’ve been keeping Tristan’s mind off the chicken pox by going light on the ‘boring’ school subjects as he’s very tired, so we’ve been having some fun with an art class. The kids took a break from their projects and enjoyed a drink and some honey and sea salt Willy Chase’s FITCORN. The popcorn was nice and light (it’s air popped), and I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it so much as I don’t generally like both salt and sweet mixed together, but it was in just the right combination, and the honey wasn’t spray coated over every kernel like the usual sweet popcorn is. No, this was very nice!
Tristan consumed his veggie smoothie Coldpress drink over the course of 3 days. He really did like it! Kallista wasn’t a fan; she was more taken by the blueberry honey water by Just Bee. There’s even a website link you can go to to have a packet of bee-friendly wildflower seeds sent out to you! We’ll order a packet to plant around the neighbourhood as the kids have already planted some seeds last fall in our own garden that will attract the honeybees. Yes, my children are learning about the plight of the honeybee and how its decline could be devastating for humankind.

The New York Delhi’s Americanos chocolate covered coffee beans will be great to keep me going during those long days of laundry when I try to catch up. They’re quite strong-flavoured beans, and I think my father would like them. I’ll have to try my best to save on for him when he visits.
The Peppersmith Dental Chewing Gum has arrived just in time as I tend to clench my jaws and grind my teeth when I get stressed. This is only something that’s come to light recently (though it’s apparent I’ve been doing it for years), and my dentist has recommended I chew gum to keep from destroying my teeth completely. With all that’s been going on recently I’ve noticed my jaws are sore so I’ll be using this gum, for sure; and it’s a nice, refreshing flavour, too!
We’ve all tried the dark chocolate coated banana chips-even Tristan who was excited to learn that they were dairy free so he could also enjoy them! They’re sweet on the outside and crunchy on the inside.
Speaking of dairy-free, Tristan’s already familiar with the taste of Koko dairy free milk alternative drink; he’s used it in his morning cereal and it’s often used in our baking.
The only disappointment in this box was the Kabuto Noodles. I should have waited until Phil was home and shared them so I could share his opinion as I’m sure his would have been different. I think it was the sweet coconut creaminess mixed with the noodles.
So that’s how our week has been; it started out rough, then the mood was lightened by a special delivery of Degustabox at just the right time!

What a creative and sensitive mother you are! Your planning during Tristan’s illness is so sympathetic and kind, and yet you are ALL learning! This is a wonderful post. Sharing!
