We recently received our January Degustabox with a Breakfast & On The Go theme. Thanks to Degustabox UK for providing us with this box so that we can share our review with you.

Most months there are two boxes, one with alcohol and one without; when you subscribe to Degustabox you’ll choose which box is your personal preference This month there isn’t an alcohol version so everyone receives the same items. There may be different product flavour versions available randomly within boxes. However, as reviewers, we often receive most or all of these variations so we can try them all out and share our thoughts with you.
Let’s start with the contents of the January Breakfast & On the Go Degustabox before moving on to our top picks. Breakfast & On the Go Top Picks

My top pick this month is Eat Natural Simply vegan peanuts, coconut and chocolate bar. It was a great combination for me – not too peanuty in flavour, with a hint of coconut, and the dark chocolate balanced out the flavours without being too sweet, and the unsuphured apricots gave it a little chewiness that was just right.

Withworths Shots Berry & White Chocolate are a treat! There’s just enough in a packet to satisfy you with white chocolate chips, crunchy nuts, and sweet and tasty berries. These are great on their own and a real indulgence when added to a pot of your favourite yoghurt.

My family likes a good pesto, but the last brand we bought left us disappointed, so we are happy to say that Zest Vegan Basil Pesto is now our favourite. Because it’s vegan, it doesn’t contain cheese, but we simply added a fine grating of Parmesan that we had in the fridge (not that it was really needed). There’s plenty of flavour packed into this little jar, and we’ll be looking for it in our local shops.
The Kids’ Top Picks

My daughter really loves Sun-Pat Peanut Butter, and I want to bake some fresh bread and have this on a slice with a drizzle of honey, just like Grandma used to make. Regular boxes will have contained one jar, but as reviewers we received both the chunky and the smooth. One jar was gone before I knew it, and I’ve had to put a note on the other so that we can make peanut butter cookies – I’ve been raving about one recipe for years that a friend used to make, and I’ve finally found the recipe on a piece of paper in the attic this week, after keeping my eye open for it for the past 10 years…These 175g jars are just the right size so that they don’t take up too much space in the cupboard and if you aren’t a frequent connoisseur it’s small enough to stay fresh, too.

Tristan really likes the Crafted blueberry & blackberry fruit juice drink. This drink is very cloudy when in a glass, but that’s due to the puree inside, which gives it lots of flavour. I like that it doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners (and no added sugar, either).

Both of my children enjoyed the Chescots SuperGut Porridge Pots. You’ll have received one in your box, but as reviewers we received 2 flavours to try out. The top flavour was blackcurrant & coconut as the coconut shavings were a novelty and added a lovely flavour to the pot. The raspberry was also very nice with a little tang.

More Breakfast & On the Go Products

Kallo’s organic honey rice and corn cakes make a nice light snack or a lunchtime dessert. I like the combo of rice and corn, which gives more substance that rice alone. The honey makes these sweet for those who have a sweet tooth, and they go well with fresh fruit, too.

I enjoy a specialty coffee from time to time during the week after a day of housekeeping and homeschooling. Around 3pm I need to sit down and relax before starting again on classes, dinner prep, and work. To help give me a little boost, a cup of hot coffee can help do the trick. We received a box of Nescafé Gold almond latte, which is an alternative to the dairy-based coffees usually available. This wasn’t a bad cup, and it’s nice to have alternatives for those with dairy allergies or lifestyle choices. It isn’t as rich or thick as Nescafé’s regular dairy varieties, but it’s still a nice cup to read by.

Phil’s face lit up when he saw the Yorkie More bar! I didn’t know he was such a big fan of the original, which is of course a classic. The Yorkie More has oats, apple and cinnamon within-think breakfast wrapped in chocolate.

The KitKat Chunky More bar has a layer of raspberry and hazelnut alongside its classic wafer layers. I’m a bit strange in that I like nuts with chocolate, but not fruit; however Phil loves that combo so he was happy to have this bar almost to himself!

These Wholesums Fresh Veg Popped Chips didn’t take long to vanish. They are made from potatoes, peas, and carrots, which give each chip a little different colour, depending on the veggie. These ones were salt and vinegar, which added some tang to each crispy bite. We’d definitely have these again!

My daughter and husband are the peanut butter consumers of our household and they liked the Bounce Energy Ball with peanuts and sesame seeds – it was like a ball of peanut butter, although you wouldn’t be able to spread it!

When time is short and you’re looking for something for lunch, or a quick side-dish, PrepCo. pots can come in handy for a little variety from the every day. You will have received 1 pot, but as reviewers we received 2 pots to try. My children liked the Mediterranean Couscous, while Phil liked the Thai Green Curry rice & quinoa. They didn’t take long to make, and the pots separate into foil, cardboard, and plastic for more effective reycyling. There was also a £1 off voucher included in the Degustabox.
