What do you do when you have children who would love to have a pet, but you live in a small space and Mom is allergic to animals? Well….you first live with the begging and pleading for a decade…and then you team up with Petplan to design your dream pet. I’m glad to say that peace is now restored and everyone is happy!
My children, like most, have always dreamed of having their own pet and I feel bad for the circumstances that mean should we have a real animal in the house, then I would be a mess of hives and wheezing and then no one would be merry.
We were all so pleased when Petplan contacted us to see what Tristan’s dream pet would be and he could put ink to paper and turn the thoughts in his mind into something we could all see. He is a big fan of a certain wizard and loves to play act different scenes; he has the robe and wand but something was missing….Tristan has been wanting a phoenix for years, and this is what he worked on.
He even made two or three versions of it so that it would be just the way he wanted it.
And this was the final result; isn’t it bright and cheerful!
We sent Tristan’s drawing off to the wonderful and kind folks at Petplan and then it was their turn to work their magic. We were surprised at how quickly their team worked to turn Tristan’s hand drawn phoenix into a soft and cuddly plush toy. When the package arrived, I knew what it was, but the children didn’t so I took it along with us on our walk and Tristan opened it along the way.
When he saw the silky red bag and felt how squishy the contents were he had an idea of what was perched inside…

Yes! It had arrived!
It was Tristan’s phoenix! Oh how delighted he was with it; it even had the one yellow feather on its head!
Tristan was overjoyed and has been taking such good care of his dream pet as it is truly one of a kind, right from his own mind.
If you have your own pets, you know that you have to take good care of them, and one way to do that is to have Pet insurance from Petplan, which is now into its fourth decade and has both 12-month and lifetime policies. I have dental insurance, and we house insurance, and of course if we had a pet, we’d have pet insurance.
In addition to insurance, Petplan leads other pet insurance companies by working with over 1,200 UK charities and are tops for working with animal rehoming charities so that more pets can find their dream family.
Now this beautiful phoenix has found its dream home; it may not be a real pet, but it’s a fabulous Dream Pet, and it’s all Tristan’s!
This post has been possible thanks to Petplan but all thoughts are my own.
