It’s here! Our Halloween Degustabox arrived on Wednesday and we’ve spent the weekend trying out as many items as possible so you can get a feel of what’s inside! There is a trick inside, but mostly there are plenty of treats!
As usual , Tristan and Kallista (and I) couldn’t wait to have a peek inside. We were just about to head out to the library and a few other stops we needed to attend to, but we had just enough time to open up our box and see what we would come home to….
The kids have spotted return items, as well as many new products to try!
Keep Degustabox in mind if you want to treat yourself, and it also makes a lovely gift for someone else! With the holidays approaching, I’m sure you know a friend, family member, or neighbour who is hard to buy for…why not sign them up for one (or more) boxes. A monthly gift box full of surprises is a fun gift all year ’round!

Halloween Degustabox Favourites:
There were a few favourites in this box. The first one is Pip’s Real Hot Chocolate Coin. It was flavoured with orange and tasted just like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. I turned these drinks into a date night indulgence by adding a little Tia Maria to them. Yum! Rich, smooth, and naughty. These chocolate coins are actually dairy-free and can be made using any dairy or non-dairy milk of your choice.

Making a return appearance are the HIPPEAS Organic Chickpea Puffs! We were delighted with this as we all love them! I actually tried spreading a little of the Seriously Spreadable Squares from last month’s box on them, and it was delicious! I kid you not!
The Feel Good Water flavoured with mango and orange (one of my favourite flavour combinations), was just what I needed mid-way through Friday afternoon to keep me going through the day, the kids’ Ju Jitsu lesson, and a heavy night at work.
Phil and Kallista enjoyed the Nuttvia Breadsticks Snackpack, but I wasn’t impressed that the main ingredients were artificial sweeteners; something that we try to stay away from.
Other October Items:
Kallista and Tristan had the Heinz No Added Sugar Hoops for a lazy Saturday lunch. Tristan said they were good, but you may see by Kallista’s face that she preferred her carrot. You can’t win them all, and Phil does make a good homemade pasta sauce!
Also making a repeat performance this month is the Kabuto Noodles Thai Green Chicken Curry. Phil prefers it more than I so he had it for lunch with the kids. One thing about Degustabox is that there is a selection of items so that everyone will find something that they like (and should you know you’re not a fan of any particular product, remember that the Food Bank is always looking for donations to help those in need).
We tried the Michel et Augustin cookies with our hot chocolate. They’re chocolate chip with a hazelnut filling. Unfortunately, I do much prefer homemade chocolate chip cookies, but again, Phil enjoyed it.
The Vimto Millions Gift Jar will go a long way and the flip-top lid means that they’ll stay fresh until you want to dip into them. Kallista has plans to use some on Phil’s birthday cake today for decoration!
We had the Cirio (Basmati Rice & Lentils) for dinner Thursday night with pork chops and veggies. We do eat a lot of rice and lentils in our home, but I don’t think we’ve had them mixed together before. The children quite enjoyed the combination.
Tristan and Kallista allowed me to have the tiniest nibble of the Pulsin Kids’ Fruity Oat Bars Orange Choc Chip so I could tell you about it. It’s very orangey and chocolately, and it’s also dairy free, which pleased Tristan because he was also able to have some. They’re small but mighty; just like Tristan.
