Today I’m sharing a quick and easy piece of artwork that friends and family will love to receive. We love to make handprint art, and a handprint heart will warm your heart.

All you need to make this is some paper, child-friendly paint, and a paintbrush. I also find a baby wipe comes in handy for swift clean-up on babies and toddlers so they don’t get paint in their mouths or on the furniture.
Simply paint the child’s hands, or if they are old enough, let them paint their own hands. My children love the way the paintbrush feels on their little palms! It’s probably easier if you do one hand at a time and wash the hand before beginning on the other.

It’s easiest if you make these ‘upside down’ and then turn the paper around when it’s done.
Place a hand in a diagonal on the piece of paper, thumb towards the center.
Repeat with the other hand, overlapping a little at the bottom of the heart.
That’s it! Just let your heart dry and it’s done. This would look beautiful done on a stretched canvas, which can be purchased at £/$ shops.

This is the type of art that can be done every year. The children will love to see how their little hands have grown over time! This year we’ve gone for a ‘joint effort’ look with the children combining their hands into one heart.
If you love print art as much as we do, have a look at our footprint tulip, handprint angels, or fingerprint Easter egg cards, or see our page where all of our fun ‘print’ artworks can be found.
