A couple of years ago I was introduced to Lilla Rose, a hair accessory shop with the most wonderful products. You can see my experience of that here. In the meantime I’ve made a couple of purchases from Jennifer, and today I’m going to share more wonderful designs with you.
The designs that Lilla Rose have are unique here in the UK; I haven’t seen anything similar that I’m aware of. I love to feel pretty, at the same time as being just a little bit different, so this is great! If you’re in the USA, you may be more familiar with Lilla Rose and know the beauty and quality. If you aren’t yet acquainted, let me do the honours.
If you have very fine or very thick hair, you may find it frustrating (like I do) to find lovely hair accessories that fit well and feel comfortable. Lilla Rose has you covered with 7 sizes to choose from in each clip design! I have never seen that option in retail shops.
I have very fine hair, but even though I know that, I overestimated the size I would need for my first clip. If this happens to you, too; don’t stress, wrap a rubber band around the back side of the clip and it will add that little extra bit of padding, as well as help to keep your clip in place.
For my order last year I tried both the mini, as well as the small so I could experiment with those (my original clip was an extra-small). This was great for me as I then had a clip for every hair style! Now I know that a small is perfect for an up-do, an extra small is for a tails-up, and a mini is perfect for a half-up.
When the opportunity to share another review with you came up it was so difficult to choose. I had my whole family – kids, husband, and even my visiting parents all giving me their opinions. Believe me, it took LOTS of time because there is SOOO much choice! And with the 140 designs currently on Jennifer’s website, I’m sure you can understand my dilema in narrowing down my final decision!
The final choice was a pretty butterfly flexiclip, Mariposa, with little danglies for extra pizzaz. I’m a huge fan of the clips with danglies! (I’m not sure if ‘danglies’ is a real word, but it is my my world!.) It looks just fantastic in a half-up do. So much better than a plain barrette.
The Mariposa butterfly is great for sunny summery days and feeling at one with nature, or perhaps in the dim winter days when you’re dreaming of sun! The dangling butterflies and bead gives an extra element and brings attention when it glints from the light. With the hanging beads, you you just need to hold them in the palm of your hand when fixing it into your hair to keep them from being caught up in the clasp. You just need a time or two to get the hang of it, and then you’ll be flitting about like a social butterfly!
The Mariposa also looks wonderfully elegant in a tails-up on Kallista, too! She has such versatile hair with a beautiful wave somedays and straight on others, that I’m quite jealous of, to be honest!
I haven’t had a headband in years. I used to have two that I loved and wore until they were worn out beyond all fixing. I haven’t found anything I like as well since then; the ones I have purchased just sit in the drawer neglected. Lilla Rose had designs that reminded me of the these! Fabulous! So for this order I chose Riley, a three-toned suede braided band that reminds me of summer, cowboys, and open fields.
What’s unique about Lilla Rose hair bands is that you choose our band style, then choose a colour for the elasticated part that clips together at the back so it will better match your own hair colour and blend in. This piece comes in 4 colours and 2 sizes. Each size is also adjustable so you can get just the right sizing for each band to be comfortable for you. The elastic pieces were much more narrow in real life than I’d imagined them in my mind, which was great.
Because these are so easily adjustable, the same band can fit both Kallista and I. She couldn’t wait for me to open the packet and put the pieces together so she could try it on!
If you like more colour and excitement, don’t fret, there are oodles of this in the selection. On this occasion I chose pieces that would work with just about any outfit so that I could get the most use out of them. Last year my order contained Fatastic! which has red accents, a fan, and floating lantern that I wore to a New Year’s Party, as well as the emerald green Flitter dragonfly, which goes well with a necklace Phil bought me on our honeymoon.
Although Kallista seems to have taken ownership of these pretty items, she is being kind and sharing them with me, too! They fit well and are very comfortable. I look forward to wearing them whenever I can (sometimes Kallista wears both at the same time so I’m out of luck)! However, she looks so beautiful in them and was kind to be my model that I can hardly say no to her looking her best.
