One Price For The Whole Family
One great thing about SchoolhouseTeachers.com is that you need only purchase one membership and for that price, you can avail of every item your membership provides for your entire family – whether that’s one child or ten! Plus, there are oodles of resources for parents as well, such as planners, streaming videos, access to the World Book encyclopaedia, daily activities, and more.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com is celebrating their 10th anniversary in March 2022! They’ve come a long way, starting with just 11 courses they now have over 400. Later this year they will also be adding Korean, Calculus, Psychology, and an updated Microsoft course.
High School Curriculum Boxes
Speaking of boxes, SchoolhouseTeachers.com has curriculum boxes already done for you from kindergarten to grade 12. That’s right, they now have high school curriculum boxes for grades 9-12. There’s always plenty of material ‘out there’ for the younger years, but in the past it has been difficult to source reasonably-priced high school curriculum.
Some families like to have everything laid out for them so they don’t need to spend time putting together curriculum on their own. The curriculum boxes do just that.

This is my 10th year with the Homeschool Review Crew, and I’ve seen how SchoolhouseTeachers.com has grown in that time. Their options have expanded and the classes themselves have improved.
Here is an example of the 9th grade Traditional History Syllabus:

As you can see, there’s a lot covered there. Also included in the curriculum boxes are daily task sheets to help you stay organised.

Of course, you don’t have to use curriculum boxes in their entirety; use what you need and leave the rest is always a good policy to not be overwhelmed. Use one subject or use them all – the choice is up to you.

And keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming PK and Parent Box.
Virtual Events
Sometimes it can feel like homeschooled children don’t have all of the ‘extras’ that school children do. ST has you covered with their virtual events:
- Monthly Storytime and Show-and-Tell
- Monthly themed Mama! Bright Spot Zoom chats
- Members’ Lounge webinars every other month
- Virtual Science Fair (March 25th)
- Virtual Art & Photography Fair
- Virtual Talent Show (May 20th)
- Senior Recognition Event

The virtual science fair, for example, is just like the school science fairs of the ’80s. Write a hypothesis, carry out an experiment, display your results on boards, and send in photographic evidence. Students also need to record a 3-5 minute video explaining their experiment. In addition to science, this also gives students the opportunity of public speaking.
How We Use The Online Electives
Scroll down to the bottom of this post and you’ll see the links to previous reviews we’ve written about ST and how we’ve used their courses. We have a couple of companies we use for core subjects such as math and English, but we tend to struggle more with elective courses that the children may find interesting, as well as ones that I think they should take to round out their experience. As they move up in the grades, these become more difficult to source at a reasonable price.
We tend to take one elective subject and tackle it head-on, spending a lot of time on it and completing it in a couple of months rather than using an entire semester or year. I do like that ST has both long courses, as well as shorter options, such as lapbooks, etc., to fill in gaps in the timetable between courses.
Tristan will be in high school this year and I have my eye on a few online electives such as accounting (my one year of this subject in high school has been very useful in ‘real’ life), home economics, and introduction to architecture as possibilities.
