Today I’m so happy to be sharing something a little different with you, and while it’s perfect for those hard-to-buy-for people on your gift list it’s also just perfect for familyor anyone who is sentimental. And better yet, it’s a great gift anytime of the year! What is this product? It’s none other than a personalized bluetooth speaker!
When GoCustomized asked if I’d be interested in working with them, I had a look around their site and found some awesome products, but the one thing that really grabbed my attention was the personalized bluetooth speaker. I listen to my Canadian hometown radio station every weekday; sometimes on the PC, but most often through my mobile as I’m washing dishes, folding laundry, or helping the children with their lessons. Life without a soundtrack just isn’t groovy.
I only received my speaker yesterday afternoon and I’m already in love! Honestly, I was thinking I was going to use this as a gift for that difficult person on my list…but I have changed my mind because I just really want wrap this up and put it under the tree for myself!
You know as well as I do that as good as phones are, their sound quality isn’t great so I was curious what the sound on this little (156x57x55mm) Avalanche speaker would be like. Phil was here when I opened the package after the kids had gone to bed and he had the pleasure of turning it on initially. The first thing he said was, “That’s great sound quality!” And I absolutely agree; it’s like a little stereo controlled through my phone.
I will admit that I often get frustrated with technology, but even I can sync the speaker with my mobile and play it easily! You can control the volume, skip the tracks ahead or back, and even answer your phone and have a conversation right through the speaker! How nifty is that?! The gocustomized Personalised Bluetooth Speaker comes in gloss black, and you design the face of it. There are some pre-set designs you can choose from, but of course, to have the most fun and create the most personal gift, I chose a photo of my children on a beach in Co. Donegal, Ireland. A memory from our first camping trip as a family. Once I had decided upon the photo I spent a short time editing the photo on the PC to adjust the colours and details so that they would stand out a little more on the black speaker grid as the original photo was quite light. I tried out a couple versions of this photo, as well as some other photos until I made my final decision.
I must say is that GoCustomized works incrediably fast! The time it took for them to receive my order, print it, and send it out for delivery was faster than the time it took for me to choose and edit just the right photo; just five hours after I hit confirm, my speaker was on its way to me! So you will have plenty of time to order one for Christmas for your favourite music lover. Oder before 3pm and it will be sent out the same day (I finalised my order at 2:32pm on Thursday).
At 7:58pm I received an email letting me know my speaker was being printed. They even included a fun video that shows how a GoCusomized phone case is printed. That was a unique email!
At 8:26pm I received another email with my shipping information and tracking info.
And by 3:00pm on Tuesday I had already received my package! So fast considering the snow and ice that the UK was dealing with over those days as well.
When I opened up my package, I was greeted by a plain black box. I opened it up to find my speaker under foam and inside a plastic bag to keep it protected and dust-free. Along with the speaker was a USB cable so I can plug directly into my computer or via an AC adapter to recharge it. There was also a jack and some directions to get you started. The speaker came with some charge in it so I could try it out immediately. Regular battery life should last up to 6 hours.
You can see that this speaker is small in size, but it has a little heft to it, and it’s mighty in sound, too. It works with frequencies between 130HZ and 20KHZ (I’ll admit I don’t quite ‘get’ that, but if it’s important to you, then you should have that information)! One thing I have been missing in my music for the past year is having some rich bass; I’m not a fan of a tinny-sounding treble. And for something so small, I’m really honestly impressed.
And the size of this speaker makes it very portable. It would be fabulous to take on business trips and play after a long day in meetings. Cramped for space in a dorm room or shared house? No problem! Backpacking? Take this with you and everyone in the youth hostel can share their favourite tunes for a fun evening. With customization, it is a great gift for aunts, uncles, and grandparents, too.
And as for that awkward person on my gift list….not to worry, she has a birthday coming up so I can design just the perfect item for her!
