Thanksgiving and Halloween wouldn’t be the same without a few pumpkins and Jack-o-lanterns around to give a little ambience to the house. Our styrofoam pumpkins are easy to make and oh so cute!
Styrofoam & Tissue Paper Pumpkin Supplies
- styrofoam ball
- orange tissue paper
- pva/white/school glue
- paint brush
- felt-tipped marker
- wiggly eyes (optional)
How to make a styrofoam & Tissue Paper pumpkin
Cover the styrofoam ball with squares of orange tissue paper in the same way as with this Tissue Covered Christmas Bauble. If you want to get extra-creative, add a paper-maché stem on the top of the ball before you begin covering the ball with tissue paper.
You may want to only cover half of the ball and then wait for it to dry before completing the second half, but that’s up to you.
When the ball is dry, draw lines on the ball for the contours, as well as making a face. You can add some wiggly eyes if you’d like.
And that’s it! Your cute little pumpkin is ready to go for Thanksgiving or Halloween! You could use these little pumpkins as table place-cards, or put a few in a clear vase for a centre piece, you could hang them from a tree in dry weather (or from an indoor door knob), or use on a Halloween wreath.
